Rated 5 out of 5 by from One nice unit! This is one fine unit all the way around... Love the GPS, fish/depth finder, and all the stock options that come with the 788ci. Recommend this one to anyone for all types of marine usage. Just make sure to mount the sonar unit slightly below the the bottom of your vessel, for accurate readings at higher than average speeds.

Does this unit maintain accurate depth readings at high speed eg 40 mph?

    Asked by: newbie
Properly installed--yes. But the installation location of the transducer is the most important step to insure proper high speed performance. The owners manual goes into this in detail and I suggest you follow mfg's transducer installation instructions. Place the transducer behind a chine improperly or too high up on the transom, and the aerated water that comes off the boat hull will hinder its performance at higher speeds.
