Would recommend
Took two guys, one turning and keeping in place, the other pounding with the sledge but it easily went down 3-4 feet in the sentiment of a New England pond and holds the dock sturdy and true.

drilled holes in my poles to hold augar more securely
I did drill holes into my metal poles to hold the auger more securely. I do have to take my dock out of the water in winter months due to ice on lake and was worried that augers would not come out with poles upon removal. Just an added security for those who have to remove docks at the end of the boating season.

Great for the river dock
I have had a dock on the Chippewa River in Wisconsin for 10 years now and I used 4 of these for my dock posts with 1.5 inch id. galvanized plumbing pipe. I have had the river come up 13 feet and my dock was under that much water, dock never moved even with the fast current. My only suggestion is to use stainless steel bolts for the set screws. Great product. Picture is of my dock under 6 feet of water, you can see the two poles closest to shore and the stair railing, the other two posts are under water, river went down dock was fine.

Are the dock sections stable enough, with extensions, to be used in 6' of water on an active(motor boats) lake? Water depth, 6' to 6'. Considering using multiple sections, to create a dock approximately 16' X 16' with a 4' X 8' aproach.
