The Roadmaster Comfort Ride Slipper Spring Kit 2503-80 is designed specifically for triple axle trailers, providing suspension support for the third axle only with an 8,000 lb axle rating.
Most trailers feature two axles and are known as tandem axle trailers. Roadmaster Comfort Ride Slipper Spring tandem axle kits include all necessary components for a standard two-axle setup. However, many larger, higher-end trailers and fifth wheels use three axles, commonly referred to as triple axle trailers.
This kit contains components for the third axle only. If you are installing Comfort Ride Slipper Springs on a triple axle trailer, you must purchase one tandem axle kit AND one third axle kit. When combined, these two kits provide all required components for a complete three-axle installation. Both kits must match the same weight rating.
Roadmaster sells the third axle kit separately due to shipping logistics. A single kit containing all six leaf springs would weigh approximately 180 lbs, making it too heavy for small parcel shipping. By splitting the system into two kits, Roadmaster avoids costly LTL freight shipping while still delivering a complete suspension solution.
