Fiberglass mats and fiberglass fabric can help build composite laminates when used in conjunction with polyester or epoxy resins, that can then be covered with a resistant gel coating to provide a smooth, yet durable, surface. For lesser instances, like repairing small cracks or reinforcing seams that open, fiberglass tape is a perfect option. It bonds to create a watertight seal. On the other side, shrink wrapping helps protect your boat from the elements when it’s not in use. Whether you’re in extreme heat (and not near the water) or you’re in the snowy north and storing your boat outside, shrink wrapping helps protect it from the elements—and keep things watertight, allowing in no snow or rain that could cause damage to carpeting, vinyl, or other surfaces. Both of these materials are applied and cured using heat, making a propane heat gun the perfect tool to ensure they’re used correctly.
