Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for minis We purchased this after finding that our daugter was on the small side for other vests on the market. She's always run small for weight, so being able to boat with her in other vests proved to be difficult. At memorial day she was three months old and stood 23" and weighed in at 10 lb, 11 0z. While it fit at this stage safely, it was not necessarily comfortable for her. By Labor Day, she was 25.5 inches tall and 13 lb 10 oz as shown in the picture. At this point she fits great, and while she is finally fitting the other vest we got from a friend, she is much more comfortable and happy in this one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not for chubby babies This did not fit our 22lb 6 months old son. He's pretty rotund and even with the waist strap and neck strap fully extended it was quite snug. Overall the quality is good, and this would fit a thinner child better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality and fast shipping! I am more than pleased with this product. It fit my 9-month-old granddaughter perfectly and tested out perfectly in the swimming pool. I feel comfortable now taking her out boating as long as she has this life jacket on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best one we have found yet. Our daughter still does not like to wear it but it is much better than the other vests we have tried. Hopefully she will get used to it over time.

I have a very slim 3 year old who weighs 22lbs. She is approximately 36in tall. Is the crotch/torso length of this jacket adjustable? If so, what is the largest measure from 'top of child's shoulder to seat base' length that the jacket adjusts to?

Asked by: MamaBear
The crotch strap itself does not have an adjustment on it. There is an adjustable strap at the collar that will allow for a little bit of vertical give, but not much. The vest length is 26".

Is there one strap or are there two straps that go thru the legs. Thanks

Asked by: FL Boat Lover
The Overton's infant vest comes with 1 strap that goes in between the legs.

I read that this product is good for children up to 30lbs. At what weight would be okay to start using the product? How little of a baby would be safe, and fit well, in this vest?

Asked by: Parsionie
Our less than 30 lb. infant vests are designed to fit all infants. However, because there is such a wide range of shapes and sizes of infants, it is always best to try the vest on the child, confirm that it is comfortable and adjusts correctly. As far as when it is alright to start using the vest, that would be at the parents discretion and if on watercraft, state law would require the use of one at all times.

Will this product turn the baby onto his back and keep him from rolling over onto his side or front?

Asked by: Will
The baby safe product is rated as a Type II PFD, which is our near-shore buoyant vest. It is intended for children up to 30 lbs. and designed to turn most unconscious wearers face-up in the water. It features foam panels in the front of the vest and none in the back to accomplish this.
