A good option for all boats
I haven't installed it yet and I hope it is a good fit, but I have had the "duckbill" auto-drains before and don't want a. Oat without one. This is the next best thing, and these obviously do not deteriorate over time with the exposure to the elements

Easy install
Used this to plug the hole where the aerator pump went thru the transom of my fiberglass boat. Pump was broken and letting water in. Used this as a quick/cheap fix. Works great.

Measure first
I made the mistake of assuming that all drain plugs are standardized....they are not I have a 1983 Larson speed boat and while the drain hole itself fit the new product the 3 screw holes did not line up. I am not disappointed in the product itself as it seems to me like a wonderful design but I am disappointed that I would have had to fill the old holes and drill new which is too much of a hassle

I bought this for the plug only
We keep our boat on a covered lift and I clean the bilge and engine compartment every other week so I like to pull the plug when I'm doing that. The design of this plug lets me use a srew driver to loosen and tighten it. I can hold a screw driver much better than an open end wrench while I'm leaning over the dock under the boat. I didn't install the one way valve in the transom so I can comment on that, but in theory it sounds like a good idea.

dont sink tour boat
works very well but takes a little longer for water to drain from bilge nothing like trying to sink your boat weve all left the plug out at least once

would this work for a pontoon boat?
As this is a universal fitting, yes it can be used on a pontoon boat.

Do you have to remove the transom drain tube for this to fit into the hole? Seems that a drain tube wouldn't be necessary if this one way plug was installed.
Yes, depending on the size of your current drain plug, you may have to remove the drain tube to install the One-Way Safety Plug.

From what I am seeing you insert the plug from underneath the boat before launching?
The EZ-In Garboard Plug is installed from the outside of the boat with silicone and screws. As a safety measure, before launching your boat, you will need to insert the drain plug to prevent water from enter into the bilge area.

can this be installed on an aluminum boat? is it truly installed on the outside of hull??
Hello Tom, Yes. It can be installed on all types of boats and on the outside of the hull. It is very important to seal around ALL of the holes to prevent any water from entering the boat. Thank you, Steve

I don't understand how when you screw this in how it would allow water to go out but not come in,I had one of these for years and never had the courage to install it.
This drain fitting and plug has a built in scupper so if you forget to install the drain plug, or choose to use it as a scupper, it will let the water out of the bilge but not allow water to enter. If you look closely at the picture on the web you can see the scupper ball inside the part that mounts to the boat.

Can I use sheet metal or wood screws in to fiberglass for installation?
Hello Ed, Yes. Either screw will work in the installation. Please make sure to use a good sealant around the plug and each screw hole to prevent any water leakage. Thank you, Steve

Do I just remove the old pipe plug and turn in the new one or is this more complicated?
The current thru hull/ female socket has to be removed and replaced with the supplied thru hull/ female socket.
