    Lowrance HOOK2 9 Fishfinder/Chartplotter w/TripleShot Transducer & US/Can Nav+ is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 105.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worthless chart on Hook2 The Hook2 combo, purchased a month ago, appears to function properly. Unfortunately, the C-Map chart that came with it is worthless as it does not provide adequate information on land and water ways. Belatedly, I learned this unit's processor is anemic and cannot handle a Standard Mapping card. A Navionics card has been order which may help the situation. I also have a 2006 Lowarance chart recorder/gps unit and the chart with that unit is far superior to the one on the Hook2. That is not progress. Lowrance should highlight its products limitations to help buyers make the right choices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I purchased the Hook2-9 about six months ago to replace an older system in the boat I had just purchased. I was looking for side-scan and down-scan capability. I looked at several systems before selecting the Lawrance but I think the main reason had to do with the display. I am fishing with just a Bimini top and the screen can wash out in the bright sun. Reports I read gave this unit good marks for this and my experience with it confirms it. Installation was straight forward but I did buy a cheap wire snake to help pull the transducer cable and it was worth every penny. I didn’t want to cut the old transducer off and use the wire to pull in the new one so I pulled the old one out with the snake attached and pulled the new one in the opposite way. Worked like a charm. Mounting the unit was no problem and initial set-up was very easy. GPS linked up in short order and gave numbers that matched previous lat/long for the dock so I knew the position was correct. The sonar started reading immediately on a split screen and stayed clear of noise until I was at about ¾ throttle. Then the screen started to get cluttered with noise and at full speed (38 knots) you couldn’t make out much else. I spent several sessions adjusting the transducer to minimize this effect. Small adjustments in tilt and depth do make a difference and worth the effort. While I couldn’t get rid of the noise completely the screen is now readable at full speed. The side-scan / down-scan really does give excellent views of the actual bottom and with side-scan you can easily see a wreck or structure on the bottom. This makes locating and hooking up to wrecks easy for fishing and diving. It is one of the best features of the unit. The charts that are included are adequate for the purpose and you can navigate easily using these alone. However, I am planning to purchase a Navionics card for the areas I sail to enhance that capability. Overall, it has been an excellent system that has worked without any issues for almost six months and dozens of trips. Now I think I should have bought a 12 had I been able to afford it. Would I recommend it to a friend, yes I would.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Happy with the unit I previously owned an Elite 7 and after that experience wasn't sure I'd buy another Lowrance product. But after doing quite a bit of research on these new Hook2 series I decided to stick with them since I like the ease of use and screen layouts. I bought this unit a few months ago and have been on half dozen trips with it so far. Installation is pretty straight forward and easy, just two connectors that push in very snug. I like them better than the twist lock ones on my Elite 7. Auto-mode right out of the box works as advertised. I didn't have to adjust sensitivity or colorline. I mainly fish lakes and rivers. I haven't used the built-in chart as I have the Navionics memory chip chart. I did play around with the built-in a little and seemed like it had decent detail for lakes in my area. I like that you can customize the pages. Example, you can have sonar and downscan either side by side layout out top\bottom layout. Navigation of menus is pretty user friendly. The Tide chart is a great feature which pre-loads tide locations near you and you can select which one to use depending on your fishing location. My only real complaint it the font for the overlay data on the left side looks a little fuzzy because the font is black with gray outline. I have a friend with exact unit and his is the same way. On the right side the depth numbers are just black and much clearer. I have submitted this to Lowrance support. Hope this review helps you out. Steve

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it! I bought this and not totally familiar with it yet, but it certainly has changed my fishing. Its easy to find the 10% of the water that holds 90% of the fish. Amazing graphics. Very pleased. My only regret is I didn't get the touch screen.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hook2 9TS I have had my Hook2 9TS on the water several times since I purchased it. I like it overall and I think it will work nice for me once I can figure it out. Since lowrance decided not to include instructions on how to use and interpret the information given on the unit I find I’m spending more time trying to figure it out than I am fishing. It’s sad that they give you information in the box to tell you where you can BUY a video on how to use there product that you just paid good money for. Overall rating 3 on unit 0 on lowrance information.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good but not great I bought this product early spring and have used several times. Easy to use nice display. My real only issue is I see no advantage to using 800 mhertz on the down scan and side scan as I cannot see any clearer detail with 800 than 450 mhertz. I may be doing something wrong but the book doesn't help much. I only fish michigan inland lakes and never deeper than 40 ft. On 800 mhertz the side scan is almost usless. I see markings underneath the boat on 450 and they dont even show up on the 800. If not for this issue I would have given it 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great produce for a great price Works just fine for storing way points, finding fish and cover. like the idea that i can split the view between the map and fish finder. good graphics on a large 9 inch screen. This is a great product that does a lot for less money than some others.
