I have a 10 year old grandson approx 60 lbs. And growing quick. We fish offshore a bit and wanted a good emergency pfd besides his regular vest. Is a child size suitable for a boy his size or is an adult size better

    Asked by: Jandy58
For your grandsons size, I would recommend the Type 1 life jacket, Type 1 Offshore Commercial PFD, Child (Item # 79760). This will give him the protection that he will need offshore and it will meet the USCG requirements.

What is the difference in USCG TYPE I II III? I have seen it listed but I don't know the difference

    Asked by: Jmm
Type I is designed for extended survival in open water when rescues may be slow to arrive (offshore vest). Type II is your classic life jacket typically worn in calm, inland water where swift rescue is possible. Type III is considered the most comfortable and has various styles for different watersports activities and is also recommended for near shore use where fast assistance is possible.
