Rated 5 out of 5 by from The New KING of FRS Radios I was looking for a replacement for a Kenwood UBZ-LF14. The UBZ-LH14 was discontinued some time ago. This little radio is not only functionally equivalent (and uses the same spectral inversion voice scrambling as well as channel codes), it has a LOT of new features. The Automatic Transponder System, and "Smart Ring" are outstanding. I'm an Electrical Engineer, as well as an licensed "Amateur Extra," and I know a good radio when I see one. I originally ordered two (to use with the old Kenwoods), but decided to order two more when I realized how good these were.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful radio We use this transciever for giving directions on backing up and parking a large motorhome and when hiking. As a licensed amateur radio operator, I trusted the ICOM name. The FRS radio was good because no license is required as in radios that use GMRS. The only downside is the range of FRS radio communication.
