Dock step ladder
It functions well with down in the water and can be expected to have a long carefree life. The only negative is that it is difficult to raise up out of the water we’re on the dock.

TO THICK TO GRIP

Great lake dock ladder
Heavy duty ladder is perfect for a boat dock. It does not gather any mold when sitting in the water and is easy to use. Adults of any size can easily climb up this ladder as the hand grips are in appropriate places and the steps are wide. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is that I struggle a little to pull the ladder steps up and out of the water after a weekend of use. The hinge works well but the steps are heavy for me. My husband can lift it without a problem

Excellent choice for dock ladder
Product is light and easy to use, but still is sturdy enough to hold my brother at 250+ lbs. Easy to install, minimal parts needed. Overall great product.

How to raise the ladder
I have found it is hard to raise out of the water, but if you take a pole, I use my pool brush pole. put it between the second and third steps it gives you leverage to raise it out of the water to start draining. Then after most of the water is out, you can raise with ease.

Fails Function Test
From the dock most (almost all) people are unable to flip up the ladder. I bring the ladder up using a 6 foot piece of a 2x4. One should be able to flip up a ladder advertised as "flip-up". It's a poor design but maybe including a strong plastic post to be use for flipping up the ladder would be a functional solution.

Excellant Product
This is an excellent ladder for above ground swimming pool decks.

Is there a reason this would't be able to be used on a pontoon?
If you have space, no there should not be a reason why it can not be installed on a pontoon as long as you securely mount it and do not exceed the weight capacity.

Could this ladder be lowered into a small boat to help someone get in and out of boat more easily? We have a small aluminum v-hull fishing boat and it's getting harder for grandpa to step down in and up out of the boat as he gets older.
It would work if the ladder is fully extended. If the ladder does not fully deploy, we do not recommend using this item.

Is there any reason that this couldn't be used for a pool ladder for a 52" above- ground pool with a deck? I feel like this may work, and with the rounded bottom edge and flip up option, may be just what I need. The ladder I installed is too wimpy.
This ladder should work fine for your application.
