Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cable Buddy Works Well Not sure why some folks have trouble with Cable Buddy. There is no need to remove engine to install. Back cable out under the helm will free cable from engine. Installed Cable Buddy on two engines with little effort. Some leakage around nuts may occur, but this can be eliminated with 7/16 nylon washers or 7/16 O rings. You just can't beat Buddy Lube. It is like power steering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Money Well Spent! Completely fixed the steering problems on a boat I just bought with a 2010 Suzuki outboard. I bought both this kit and the Lube II nut for the other side of the steering cable tube. The steering is soooo smooth now when before you had to steer with both hands to even try to get the motor to barely turn. Installation was not too hard and only took about an hour to complete. Worth every penny.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not always east to install I installed this on a 16 ft bowrider. Since the steering cable on this boat goes through a hole in the cap,I had to remove the motor ro install the nut. It is also necessary to use thread tape on the nut before drilling the hole since if you do not the nut leaks. This was not even mentioned in the instructions but definately should have been. The lubrication does free up the cable but without sealing the nut it makes a mess. With a few improvements (sealer included and better instructions) this could be a great product

I have a 16 FT 1986 Bayling Capri Bowrider with a 85 HP Force outboard. The steering is a Telflex rack and pinion no feedback system, similar to your SS151, which I purchased from Overton's to replace to orginal system which stiffened up. Now this steering system is stiffing up and has become hard to steer. Will the Cable Buddy product help to correct this problem? How do you mount the lube collar on the cable?

will this product help ease a steering cable that has already began to tighten up?

    Asked by: Anonymous
The Cable Buddy Steering Cable Lubrication System is a complete steering cable lubrication system. This system will prevent corrosion, freezing up, and wear and tear on you steering system in the future. This system may not be the best thing for a steering system that has already tightened up and is not as free as it once was. This is basically a system to help prevent those type of issues and hassles in the future. If you have any further questions or concerns please contact us here at Overton's at 1-888-OVERTON and any of our Technical Product Specialist will be glad to assist you.
