Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent replacement My current 1975 vintage rack & pinion steering cable system for my 135 hp OBM had developed cracks in the cable covering near the motor connection. This could result in sudden rupture of the inner push- pull cable from the casing with loss of steering control. The Seastar replacement installed easily. Overtons internet chat service alleged me to quickly & easily confirm I was buying the correct product & the correct cable length

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Positive Experience Being the world's worst mechanic I was reluctant to tackle the replacement of the steering cable on my 1983 Monte Carlo Ski Boat. The old cable came out easy, the parts were easy to order, arrived on time, and were easy to install. The directions could have been a little more detailed to help the novices, but overall a very positive experience. The boat now steers like a dream. Please note that ordering just the cable (instead of the kit) could be a mistake. The mounting holes may not match up on some boats. I ordered the kit and was glad I did. Overtons price was lower than local marinas.

Does the no feed back system come with hardware to connect to an outboard motor? Also can you provide a standoff type cable guide that attaches to the transom.I have a 1971 Johnson 125  outboard.

    Asked by: Ron
No. The SeaStar Solutions No Feedback Single Cable Rack-And-Pinion Steering System,SS151 does not include the hardware to connect to your outboard. What you currently have now can still be used. No, we do not offer any type of standoff cable guide for your application.

'"using measuring guide I get 156" for new cable, measuring old cable just the black housing is 152", but old cable is 24" too long and needed extra bends to fit, what size cable should I order?

    Asked by: dehart54
Based on your measurement, I recommend ordering the SeaStar Solutions No Feedback Single Cable Rack-And-Pinion Steering System,SS151 in a 13 foot length.

I just purchased from you and installed a Teleflex No Feedback Single Cable Rack-And-Pinion Steering System, SS151. How am I suppose to set the trim skeg on my outboard motor 90hp Yamaha? I am talking about the little rudder behind the prop.

    Asked by: joe
Hello Joe, It is recommended that you run your boat as the skeg is now and then make any adjustments based on how the engine performs while in operation. Thank you, Steve

hello. do any of the kits include the shaft that goes into the motor?

    Asked by: Tony
No they do not. That is specific to every engine and this system can be used on most all engines.

We have a 16 ft. boat and the steering with this system is stiff and hard to start the wheel turning, particularly with one hand. Can it be adjusted

    Asked by: George
You probley neen a new sterring cable. Mine waqs hard so i had to replace. Check to see what kind of steering unit you have. You may be able to buy just the cable and not the whole unit.
