Rated 4 out of 5 by from Should do the job Should do the job. Wish it had a chain on the cap to help pull it through the bilge drain hole by attaching it to the plug. Also wish it had a valve so that the oil wasn't being retained by the cap on the hose. Nothing that's a big deal, otherwise I prefer this method to sucking oil out through the dipstick tube.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good idea, but fell short The concept of this product is good (to drain the oil without making a mess.) Unfortunately the design comes up a little short. The hose will not fit through a standard drainplug hole. I didn't want to drain the oil into the bottom of the boat, that was the reason for buying this. Returned it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from oil drain kit I haven't tried this, not till spring. However, it looks like it will do exactly what we want it to do.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hose too large If you have a "standard" 1/2" drain hole, don't get this. The hose does NOT fit out the drain hole. I tried 2 different ones from this manufacturer and neither one fit out the drain hole.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get the old oil OUT!!!! Allows you to drain the oil pan completely. Easy to use. I have connected mine to an oil drain pump and can use it anytime, not just when the boat is out of the water.

Hey Steve My dip stick tube share the same hole in the oil pan as the drain plug. Bolt about 1 1/2" long, is hollow and bolts through knuckle end of tube. I'm not sure if kit will work on this factory set up. What say you? Thanks

The Oil Drain Kit will not work for your application.

Was told to get item #27861 to fit '98 Bayliner 3.0 Merc. Did not fit thru transom. (Hole <11/16") Also, 98 Mercruiser 3.0, needs 12mm thread to fit the oil drain plug. Q: Is the opposite fitting on this one <11/16", so it goes thru transom?

    Asked by: Alan
The drain end of the Oil Drain Kit - 12mm x 1.75 Thread Size is 5/8" in diameter.

Is this 12 mm by 1.75 fitting right for my 1998 Mercruiser 5.0 Chevy 305 engine?  Don't know my drain plug size.  Just bought boat.

    Asked by: Terry
No. You will need the Oil Drain Kit - 3/8" x 18 Thread Size (Item # 27861) for this Mercruiser engine..

Does the hose have a swivel on both ends? What is the size of the thread on the end not specified?

    Asked by: Burgmeister
No. The Oil Drain Kit - 12mm x 1.75 Thread Size has a 90 degree fitting for the engine end of the kit and a 1/2" thread size on the drain end.

    Asked by: Phathead
Hello Phathead, Yes. The hose and fitting end that would go through the transom is approximately 5/8" in diameter. Thank you, Steve

I have a 1965 Gulf Stream with the 150 horse straight six how do I tell which one I need or do I need to drill it out???

    Asked by: Dusty
Hello Dusty, You will need to determine who the manufacturer is of your straight 6 engine block. This oil drain kit is designed for use with '96 or newer Chevy 350 and 454 engines and replacement oil pans. Thank you, Steve
