Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly as promised. Great replacement for factory unit. Dash mount was simple. Wiring worked great (more than long enough for my 18ft boat) and epoxy package was really simple to mix and use. Directions easy to follow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice and easy to install Easy to install and attractive. Easy to use. Only need hole saw as special tool for installation. Haul puck transduceris best if you have place to install it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a MUST HAVE for the ski boat!!! A month ago, I was towing my son on a tube in a cove on one of our local lakes. My wife pointed to something, and asked "what kind of jet ski is that guy riding?" As we got closer I realized it was a guy doing water wheelies on a four wheeler! My wife decided right then that we needed a depth finder![...] Installed guage in dash (had open slot) per the instructions. Very easy install! Temporarily installed puck (per the instructions), and took to lake on Saturday. The guage worked most of the time, but had a tendancy to "lose/confuse" signal. Had to turn off and back on to reset. This problem completely went away once permanently installed (again, per instructions). Puck install was easy using the supplied epoxy. Let cure for several days, and then back to the lake. Works PERFECTLY! The shallow water alarm is a nice feature also.Every ski boat should be equipped with one of these! Safety reasons alone justify the price (not to mention possible damage to the boat)!!!

I have a 15' Boston Whaler jet boat. One of the other reviews says that this thru hull unit will not work on a Boston Whaler. Do you know if this is true. I here that transon transducers get interference from the jet spray. Is that true.

Asked by: Squirt
Through hull transducers will not shoot sonar through metal bottom boats. Transducers must be mounted underwater, whether they are mounted in the bilge or on the transom, before they will work. If a transom transducer is mounted underwater it will not experience water spray, so I do not think that is true. As long as your transducer is mounted under the water line of the boat and your hull does not have metal under the area that you are mounting the transducer then they should work properly.

i am replacing a standard horizon depth finder on a 1992 26' chris craft. should i oder the in hull or transom mount transducer?

Asked by: Tim
That is absolutely up to you the consumer. Transom mounts are easier to mount because thru hull will require installation in the hull and a epoxy to make it water tight.

I want to install puck in 1992 glastron 1700 inboard/outboard. How do I know if their are layers in the bilge compartment.

Asked by: CK
That would be a good question for your boat manufacturer. We would not have any way of knowing that, so the boat manufacturer would be a great place to start.

I am considering purchasing this for a 2005 185 sport sea ray mainly because I don't want to drill through my hull. I am concerned that it may not work-read. A friend suggested wiring the unit without mounting the puck and taking it to the lake to check for a reading; marking the location with the proper reading then mounting the puck. Any suggestions?? Just don't want to throw the money away if it won't work-
Asked by: Anonymous
The only thing I could recommend in that case would be the same unit with a transom transducer. Item 74461 will accommodate that.

What type of material would I use to mount the puck to the bottom of the hull? Do you sell the product that I could buy if I order this online? Thanks!

Asked by: EasyG
You can seal up around the puck transducer with like marine power poxy. Just make sure you get all the air bubbles out.
