I bought this to slice my own lunch meat. The instructions say not to run more than ten minutes at a time. It was more like five minute and it started to smoke. I wasn't using heavy pressure or severely loading the machine. The slide bar doesn't slide very easily but with some silicone spray problem could be resolved. The clean up is the worst. Nothing but the blade comes off and meat gets stuck behind it and need a q tip to get into the corners to get contaminants out. I would not want to use this for every day use or anything with liquid such as tomatoes. To much of a pain to clean. If you like really thin but not shaved it would be difficult to do on this machine.
