The thimble should be galvanized or, better, stainless Steel. Mine rusted in freshwater use only. The thimble made a mess all over the rope and inside the ancor locker on the gel coat. I added soem pics. Again, this is freshwater use only.

I bought this rope previously and had no issues. A few years later and it appears the OEM has changed or the quality has gone down. I would not recommend this rope unless you cut the thimble off and weave in your own.

I use the anchor rope for river anchoring. It is a better quality rope than I have purchased in the past at local boat stores.

What diameter line do you recommend for an 18' fish/ski for great lakes and small lake waters

                    A:

Considering how rough the current can get in the great lakes I would recommend going with a 1/2" diameter line.

                    A:

The 3/8 I'm sure will work fine. And the smaller diameter will be easier to handle.
