Comments about Trailer Valet Jack/Dolly:
I think the concept is good but the product did not satisfy me at all. I installed the trailer valet and when I raised it remove the trailer from the trailer ball, one of the tire's blew out. I have a standard trailer with an 18 foot seadoo. I was really disappointed that it happened. I returned the item for a refund. Didnt want to exchange it and the same think happens. Maybe if the company uses a different type of wheel I will consider. There is no way to even put air in it. Looks like you have to take the entire assembly apart to even replace one of the wheels.
Pros
Cons
- Not Functional
Best Uses
Comments about Trailer Valet Jack/Dolly:
I was hoping to use this to move my boat (3000lbs) up my driveway to the side yard. Not even close. The tires just spun. I tried several different locations and heights on trailer without success. It is rated for up to 5k lbs. up a 30 degree slope. I wasn't near either and it didn't work.
Pros
- Heavy duty construction
Cons
- Arrived with defects
- Obviously re-used box
- Poor quality assembly
Best Uses
- Boat trailering
Comments about Trailer Valet Jack/Dolly:
Box arrived looking used. Tape layers proved more than one use. Alarming rattles of loose "stuff" inside. Drive chain was off the drive wheel sprocket. Unable to get chain to stay on drive wheel sprocket because it was not lined up with upper drive sprocket. Wheels appeared installed backwards causing sprockets to not align. Additionally, one side of wheel axel not seated in brass bushing. Clearly an accident waiting to happen. Finally, on workbench, could not get steering handle brake to work. In sum, this is a text book example of a good idea executed/produced with little/terrible quality control. I strongly recommend buying this product only if thoroughly inspected before purchase. Overtons was very cooperative about return.
Pros
- Better Control backing in
- Better value than others
- Can Withstand Use
- Easily remove for storage
- Safe
- Time Saver
- Versatile
Cons
- 5K lb weight limit
- Only manual crank
Best Uses
- After your friends ditch
- Backing in tight spaces
- Garage
Comments about Trailer Valet Jack/Dolly:
It was easy to install, and I left my old jack on my trailer. I imagine that someone would want to take it. The nice thing is that it is compact in size and light enough to toss into the garage once hitched. But it does tilt up if you want to leave it on there. The real use for me is backing my trailer back into my side yard. Before I had to come in at a jack knife angle, since it's so narrow, but now I can get it close, unhitch and crank it back in while adjusting the angle via the trailer valet. Plus the brake lets me go back and put down the tire chucks.
The bad things are if I was going up the whole driveway, my arm would get tired from cranking, it wouldn't work on a large toy hauler since it's weight limit is 5K lbs, but that's great for my 19' utility trailer.
Compared to other trailer movers that are motorized, this is way way more affordable and safer imo.

Q:
Does the Valet/dolly turn or just forward & reverse straight?Asked on 6/13/2012 by Jr. from Los Angeles, CA1 answer
A:
yes it can turn. I couldn't get to push my trailer though. Good luck.Answered on 10/9/2012 by none from San Diego, CA
Q:
how low are you able to drop the tongue of the trailer and still use this to move it?Asked on 2/10/2012 by mike from cincinnati, oh1 answer
A:
According to the user manual, they suggest that you lower the jack all the way before cranking. It makes it more stable. But if you are asking about the height at the end of the tongue, that will depend on the trailer. The Trailer Valet mounting bracket is really versatile, so if you needed it crazy low, you could.Answered on 7/4/2012 by Vash the Stampede from Sunny SoCal
