Toon-brite Aluminum Cleaner
Toon-brite is the easiest aluminum cleaner you'll ever use. Designed for the do-it-yourselfer, Toon-brite easily removes scum, algae, dirt, grime, lime deposits, water stains, and oxidation from pontoon logs. Also works well on other aluminum surfaces. Just spray it on and rinse it off for a like-new finish. One quart of this concentrate comes in 1/2-gallon bottle ready to be mixed. Includes attached 3-finger trigger sprayer. Biodegradable.
How to Apply Toon-brite Aluminum Cleaner
First, you should use a pressure washer or water hose to remove the big stuff. It's best to clean just after removing the boat from the water, before the build-up dries. Then apply Toon-brite using the supplied trigger sprayer. Adjust the nozzle down to a fine mist. Start at the bottom and work your way up, applying evenly as you go. If streaking occurs, reapply in that area. Let it stand for up to 5 minutes, then rinse.
Toon-brite comes diluted for heavy cleaning (i.e. boats left in the water). For light cleaning, dilute Toon-brite at a 1:1 ratio.
What kind of a finish will Toon-brite leave?
No acid-based aluminum cleaner can put the "shine" back on old aluminum. The kind of finish depends on how strong you mix the Toon-brite. At a ratio of 1 to about 3 or 5, it will remove slight stains and oxidation, leaving a fairly shiny finish, assuming the original mill-finish still exists. Mixed at a stronger ratio of 1:1, Toon-brite will bleach aluminum to a uniform off-white finish. If you don't want this off-white look, you can use Toon-brite Aluminum Polish and Restorer (item #22265) to bring your aluminum back to a showroom look or apply Clear-Coat (item #87144) for a very nice finish.
Toon-brite Aluminum Cleaner will not harm your boat's paint or decals nor will it mar bunks or carpet on boat trailers. Just remember to rinse well after cleaning.
Toon-brite Aluminum Cleaner is not made to remove moss and algae. It's recommended to use a pressure washer or garden hose to remove the big stuff.
Toon-brite Polish and Restorer
Formulated to polish and restore aluminum pontoons and boats. Comes in an 18-oz. jar. Apply by hand or with a 5" - 6" buffer pad. Please note: This product cannot be used on anodized aluminum.
Metal Polish is not the same thing as wax.
Wax is simply a coating left on a surface to temporarily protect it from the elements. Metal Polish is a compound designed to remove a microscopic thin layer of the surface material and leave a flat, reflective surface.
Aluminum Polish can be used on materials other than aluminum
You can use Toon-brite Aluminum Polish on aluminum, brass, copper, stainless steel, and chrome. It works well on most metal surfaces.
Polishing with Toon-brite Aluminum Polish
You can polish by hand, but you'll want to stick to the smaller jobs. Use a buffer for larger areas. It's a lot faster and much easier on you. It's best to use a high-quality 7" variable speed buffer with a lambswool, terry cloth, or hard foam pad.
Once you start buffing, a black film may form on the metal. This occurs as the polish pulls the pigmentation back out after cleaning to create a like new finish. Remember, a little bit goes a long way. Buff it in and then right back out.

Q:How much area do these products cover? Will they clean and shine one set of aluminum pontoons?Asked on 4/23/2015 by Ami from Michigan
Yes. The kit is usually enough product to clean one set of pontoons. However, if the pontoons are extremely dirty, it may take an additional kit.
