Amazing hat! Washes great, just shake it back into shape out of the washer. 4 yrs old and I've done yard work, gone fishing, hiking - no wear at all! Just keep it clean.

I have never been one to wear hats. I just don't have the "head" for it, and I find them annoying most of the time. They get blown off by the wind, they get grimey and soaked with sweat, they get bent out of shape, etc. However, this past May my fiancee and I planned a hiking trip in Colorado and I wanted a good hat to wear on the trip. We visited our local professional hat shop where I had described to the clerk working there what we were doing and what I was looking for. He didn't hesitate for a second to point me in the direction of the Tilley's. I was a bit put off at first by the price. The frugal side of me was screaming, "WHAT!? [$] for a hat??". But I quickly assuaged my doubts and made the purchase. After all, if the hat really was as amazing as they claimed then it would be something I would own for years down the road and be well worth the investment. What other hat have you purchased that you register? So I made my purchase and off to Colorado we went.That hat performed impeccably well! It kept my head cool, yet protected. It held up to some rough abuse trekking through sand dunes and amazingly beautiful national parks. I even accidentally dropped it in a stream. It dried quickly and held its shape. One of the things the clerk at the hot store mentioned was that Tilley wasn't just an awesome hat, but it was an admittance into a sort of secret "club"; people wearing them would spot you and give you the "nod". I did actually experience this once when we were out hiking, but besides that I got many compliments in general.I don't regret purchasing a Tilley one bit and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an amazingly comfortable, resilient, and stylish headpiece. Don't let the price turn you away. This hat is well worth it.

I had been looking for a brimmed hat for fishing and casual wear, but could never find one that fit comfortably. My dad, uncle and brother have Tilley hats, and I could never understand why they'd pay that kind of money for a hat.

After trying one on, I understood. I bought one in the khaki color. I wore it on the way home and was amazed how light and comfortable it was. I wore it fishing on a sunny/windy day a few weeks later...never lost it in the wind, and it helped block out the sun.

I've designated this as my fishing hat. I will definitely get another one for casual wear.
