Purchased the ThermoCell unit along with the carry holster and extra refill mats for both my son and nephew for Christmas on a recommendation from a friend who is an avid hunter and fisherman. According to my friend, hehas used his ThermoCell unit many times and has always been amazed at how quickly and for how long those annoying bugs stay away. These units will be the perfect gifts for my young men!

I hunt on the ground due to disability - this stuff clears out the mosquitoes but deer/ hog can smell it.

If you buy a thermacell you must buy these refills every so often. Easy to use and install, works very well for any outdoor activities

I used this product during the early archery season. Easy to use and had no effect on the deer that I saw.

We live on a small, heavily foliaged island and mosquitoes and no-see-ums are rampant. Our house in mainly designed to let the outdoors in, so we suffer from insect penetration. This butane-powered lantern has transformed our lives, which were in a word "unbearable." We light the lantern (very easy and safe - just push a button to light, compared to having to take the candle-operated lanterns apart and no open flame) and within 5 minutes, or less, the insects have 100% vanished. We place the lantern about 10 feet from where we are because, although not offensive, it does have a slight odor, but much, much less than the candle version. It easily controls a large room (our ceilings are 14 feet high). We have found that after the insects have been dispensed with, we are able to turn the lantern off (which saves fuel) and the area will remain free of insects for no less than an hour, but more typically for several hours. We were using the candle-powered lanterns, but these are much better. Occasionally, the candle units would get knocked over, spilling wax and making a mess. Also, the candles burn out very quickly. These butane refills last longer overall, making them a better value. [...]
