Straight out of the box I wore these camping with light 5-7 mile day hikes over a 5 day period. I put these to the test, in and out of rivers, over rocks, through fields, mountains you name it. They were incredible. They broke in perfectly, solid enough of a sole to not wear quickly, light weight, waterproof and comfortable. Not to mention they look great. I was very impressed as this is my first pair of Teva shoes. AMAZING!I highly recommend these to anyone.

I put this shoe on and really enjoyed it. I was amazed at the comfort level. I asked an employee what the reaction to this shoe was and he said none as it really hasn't sold that well.

I was surprised as it was so comfy, but I was more surprised at the blisters these shoes gave me on my first little hike. There was no warning of this in the store or walking around the house.

Out on the trail after I felt the blisters coming on, I took the shoe off to have a look and there is a really big seam that runs horizontally in the middle of the heal. That is just a bad design. I did not notice this in the store.

I thought blisters from shoes has gone the way of the dodo bird. But I guess not. I really can't remember the last time a shoe gave me blisters in the heal.

Comments about Teva Mens Riva eVent Hiking Shoe:

I just got my second pair of Teva Riva Events, after having my first pair for three years. The uppers on my older pair are still in completely good condition. The lug patterns on the soles are 2/3 worn, but there's still plenty of tread for most purposes. The only noticeable change between model years is that lacing eyelets are spread out farther on the newer model, so that it's better for snugging the shoe up around the foot - a good change. Otherwise, the hiking shoe model I just bought (April 2015) is pretty much identical to the shoe I got three years ago.

I use the shoes for trail running and hiking in the foothills of Boulder's Flatirons. They're excellent in rocks, roots, boulders, steeps, snow, slush, mud, water puddles, and dirt, and they hold Microspikes and Ice Trekkers in place for running on ice & snow. The Vibram soles work well on their own, without traction devices, on wet, slippery, and sloped surfaces of all kinds. Sharp, pointy rocks aren't an issue with the Tevas. Their weight isn't much more than high tech shoes with fabric uppers. It takes quite a workout in the snow, usualy 2 hours or more, before the leather uppers start holding moisture, but the insides stay dry.

I did online research, and then tried on several brands, and no others compared. I chose the Tevas, hands down. They have a snug and secure fit and feel that surpassed the other brands, even those which seemed higher tech.

I also wear them in town most every day during winter, in cold temperatures and in all but the deepest snow. When driving, the boots don't seem bulky, and shifting and braking are easy. And, they look good with jeans.

The Rivas are solid, versatile, and traditionally good-looking, and they deliver top performance in all uses.

Comments about Teva Mens Riva eVent Hiking Shoe:

Looked & looked for shoes with sufficient comfort, support & durability for a European vacation but which dodn't scream "boots" or "gear-obsessed-tourist." These Tevas fit those specs perfectly. Can wear them with khakis at dinner, or while scrambling along a rocky coastline trail. Highly recommended. (PS: I have a wide foot, and these shows fit without pinching.)

Comments about Teva Mens Riva eVent Hiking Shoe:

I bought these shoes as a fill-in for a pair of forgotten hikers a while back on vacation in the mountains around Asheville, NC. These were, without a doubt, the most comfortable and versatile pair of hiking / walker / all-around do-everything shoes I've ever owned, hands down. There are just two problems with these shoes:
          1. The left one had a loud and annoying squeak from day one. I spent the last 2 years trying to convince myself I could live with the sound, because the shoes were just so darned comfortable, durable, and versatile, until one day I gave in and returned the shoes to Teva for repair / exchange / credit / whatever they do with them. Which leads us to the second problem....
          2. TEVA DOESN"T HAVE MY SIZE IN STOCK! They issued me a "site credit" for the shoes, and the only other model I'd consider getting that has similar reviews costs more. What's more, the only reviews indicate that shoe may run a size small, so I'm afraid to buy sight-unseen. Guess I'm going to have to buck up, pay the difference, and take a chance. Missing my Rivas already. Please make more, Teva! This was the closest to a "perfect" shoe that I've ever found - except for that annoying rubber-to-rubber squeaking. I'd almost take 'em back if you'd supply a lifetime's worth of earplugs...

Comments about Teva Mens Riva eVent Hiking Shoe:

I work and play in these. Wish I could find another pair in size 14. These shoes exceed and excel is so many areas. Comfort; support; durability; and style. What can I say; they are my all time favorite. I work hard and play hard and these shoes keep coming back for more. Great traction; good support and they keep my feet dry. What's not to love about these shoes? I only wish I could find another pair in 14. None can be found. :-(
