Comments about Dockmate Telescoping Drop Ladder, 3-Step:

I am putting this on my sailboat as the ladder that came with it is way to short. I have been watching for this ladder for about 1 year and then got it on sale. I have not yet installed it because we still have snow in Michigan but it will replace a short one currently on the boat. I previously purchased one for my pontoon boat and it was perfect.

Comments about Dockmate Telescoping Drop Ladder, 3-Step:

Worked well on my 24' Suntracker Pontoon. I installed by mounting to the floor under one of the side doors rather than the front. I simply flip the ladder up and use the included velcro strap to hold it out of the way while moving, then unstrap and let down when the kids want to swim. Great, affordable product.

I have a 23' Sea Ray cuddy cabin 1985 with fiberglass swim deck. Current ladder is two steps with teak steps. Will this ladder fit n the same space as my current one?

                  A:

Thanks for your question. Without having more details about your current ladder, the only way to be sure this ladder will fit is to go by the measurements. Here are some details that will help determine if it will fit.
Overall Width - 11.625" (includes hardware attaching bracket to ladder)
                  Stowed Length - 14.5"
Mounting Brackets inside to inside - 8.625"
Mounting Brackets outside to outside - 11.25" (not including hardware attaching brackets)
                  Mounting Bracket width - 1.25"
Mounting Bracket length - 5.25" (not including hinge point where ladder connects to bracket but rather just the part of the bracket that will rest on your swim deck)

It is 10" from inside of mounting bracket to outside of mounting bracket. Here are some other dimensions that may be helpful.
Mounting Brackets inside to inside - 8 5/8"
Mounting Brackets outside to outside - 11 1/4"
                  Mounting Bracket width - 1 1/4"
Mounting Bracket length - 5 1/4" (not including pivot point where ladder is mounted to bracket)

                  A:

If that is the exact same ladder you have but it has three steps, just add about 1.5 inches to the length in the stowed away position. If the factory ladder that is on it is not like this one, we would need your dimensions for the space you have available.

Is this a permanent installation or is it something you attach everytime you're out... i.e. do you install the brackets and then put the ladder in the brackets?
