Product Description
taylor_made Sur-Moor TC3 hard-skin mooring buoys have a seamless, tough, one-piece polyethylene shell. These hard-skin shells feature ultraviolet light absorbers for long life under the sun. The reflective blue stripe aids nighttime visibility. The sandblasted finish allows the surface to be painted. Filled with EPS foam to positively displace water. Sur-Moor TC3 Mooring Buoys have a tube-through-center design.

Note: Hardware is not included. An anchor chain and shackle are required for mooring. Most applications will use a 1/2" or larger shackle. However since the size of the shackle depends on the size of anchor chain required by your mooring, the shackle and chain are not included.

Buoy Diameter: 18"
Tube Diameter: 2.5"
Buoyancy*: 100 lbs.

* Buoyancy rating indicates the maximum flotation the buoy provides while fully submerged. The buoy will support about half of this value at the level of the blue stripe.

Comments about Taylor Made Sur-Moor T3C Mooring Buoy, 18":

The design is poor. Despite also buying the upper collar the chain is free to saw through the lower part of the buoy. After one season the buoy was ruined. The next year, I tried putting a shackle through the mooring chain below the buoy but there was still to much movement. The upper shackle also sits at an awkward angle against the upper collar and also wears into it. The company needs to come up with a strong bar that rurs through the buoy that is sealed in place and allows a shackle to be attached below and mooring lines/chains above. In other words use the design of the Traditional Sur-moor buoy but make it stronger. That would be perfect.
