Comments about StrikeMaster Mora® 8" Adjustable Hand Auger:
I use this auger 2-3 days every week. I live in Gunnison Colorado and fish Blue Mesa Resevoir. The ice is already 14 inches thick and gets up to 3 feet thick by March. This 8 inch auger cuts threw the ice with ease. It's the best auger you can get at this price which is a steal. Its design allows it to cut with ease and speed. I really enjoy using this product.

well it is a good auger if you are strong. I have to sometimes cut threw 2 one half feet of ice and it takes a lot of muscle!

Comments about StrikeMaster Mora® 8" Adjustable Hand Auger:
The 8" Mora comes sharp and ready- but to drill that kind of hole in thick ice takes some uumph, so I don't recommend this for lightweights or older folks. For the price, you can't beat it, but if you have cash to spare and don't want to work so hard, consider a different auger. The Nils Master line of augers cuts infinitely better... and without effort. But for $3.5x more money, it should, right?
This is the right tool for the recreational fisherman who needs an 8" hole for less money. But if all you will go after is panfish, consider a smaller diameter and save your elbow grease for reeling in fish... Remember the math, the volume of ice removed is proportional to teh square of the diameter of the hole, which means that an 8"-diamter hole is almost twice as much ice to cut as a 6".
