Comments about Dock Edge Stationary Dock Hardware - Leg Pipe Sand Auger:
I have had a dock on the Chippewa River in Wisconsin for 10 years now and I used 4 of these for my dock posts with 1.5 inch id. galvanized plumbing pipe. I have had the river come up 13 feet and my dock was under that much water, dock never moved even with the fast current. My only suggestion is to use stainless steel bolts for the set screws. Great product.
Picture is of my dock under 6 feet of water, you can see the two poles closest to shore and the stair railing, the other two posts are under water, river went down dock was fine.

Q:
What do you suggest using to turn the pipe while installing. Will I need to add some pressure or will the auger self burrow into the ground below the water?Asked on 5/18/2010 by Jim and Karen from Rockford, Michigan3 answers

Pipe wrench worked great for me, just turned it by hand (sandy, muddy bottom).Answered on 6/25/2012 by Mike from Nicholasville, KYA:
A pipe wrench works just fine, the auger pretty much goes down with little pressure once it's started, it will even work it's way around rocks with a little diligence. I've been using these babies for over 10 years and haven't lost a dock since. I attach the pipes to a gimble on the dock and angle them into the lake bottom in the general direction of the wind.Answered on 10/4/2011 by Bob from Mille Lacs Lake, Minnesota
