Comments about St. Croix® Avid Series® Spinning Rod:
I use the St. Croix Avid 6'3" spinning rod for general freshwater applications, especially jigging and other soft plastic techniques and especially for smallmouth bass. This is one of the very few mass-produced rod series that seems to be consistently and correctly spined, making for excellent casting ability. Superficially, the price may seem a little steep, but given the level of involvement to correctly position guides along a blank's spine, the price becomes quite reasonable for the resultant quality of product. Its very fast-action graphite blank is also very sensitive to the point that I can detect when my plastic or bait has been lost on the retrieve. The Avid series is recommended without hesitation.
