sportdog The SportDOG Field Trainer Electronic Dog Trainer features a palm-of-the-hand size design for field training and hunting with close-working dogs. The system expands to accommodate up to three SportDOG Brand Add-A-Dog collars (sold separately). Transmitter and collar receiver are waterproof and submersible to 25', per NEMA 6P and IP67 standards. Customize your transmitter with seven training modes, eight levels of momentary and 16 levels of continuous stimulation. The system also features a tone-only button and a low battery indicator in both the transmitter and collar receiver. Includes two NiMH batteries.

We bought this collar for our lab who at the time was 8 months old. She loved people and would rather go visit with them than listen to her master. This collar fixed the issue and it is still working a year and half later. We have also used it on our new lab and it is still very effective. Plus we have never had a problem with the range as long as the collar was on snug and the prongs were against their skin. Would defenitly buy another.

I purchased this unit 1 year ago and was pleased with it the first two weeks. 100 yards with no problem, with an occational miss. After the second week it was down to about 50 yards. I called Sports Dog with no help. I emailed with no response. So I said the hell with it I can live with 50 yards. 1 year later I almost have to touch the reciever and transmitter together to get them to work. Was it worth it... no... spend the extra money and get a better one.

I purchased this product because I live on a main country road with lots of traffic. My do knows her boundaries as soon as she hears the tone and most of the time I don't have to use the vibration. I think it works great! The only reason I gave 4 stars is because of the rechargeable battery...I would prefer a replaceable battery so the collar is always ready. At times I forget to charge the collar at night and I have nothing to use as it's recharging the next day. My other collar had a replaceable battery and I always had access to the collar...

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Good Basic Collar

    This collar is a good basic collar. I've been working my Springer Spaniel on it and he is listening much more quickly than he had been. One word of warning - the continuous stimulation seems to be mush more intense at a given level than the nick feature. I can hold the collar in my hand and comfortably shock myself at level 2 with the nick. Not so nice with continuous. My Springer works at the level 2 setting and sometimes needs to go to 3 to get him to notice. Level 2 continuous caused him to yelp the first time I used it.

    I would try out the continuous setting before using it on your dog!

        We use this daily on our dog. We let her outside and beep her to come back in. We live near a lot of open space, so she typically will run the equivalent of a suburban lot or two away from ours. The collar stopped holding a charge after 2.5 years and no longer will just beep once for her. It beeps repeatedly. Would have hoped it would have been more durable.

        Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
