I bought this for my 2011 Tahoe Q4SF. This 4 blade replaced my 3 blade and made a big improvement when pulling tubes and ski's. The fit was a hair bigger then the original prop but I was able to fix this by filing down the anode to make it spin freely. I would deffinetly buy this again

Comments about Solas 4-Blade Propeller, Pressed Rubber Hub / Aluminum, 14.25 dia x 19 pitch, Right Hand:

I own a 2004 SeaRay 180 sport. It has a 130Hp Merc. Alpha One I/O. I had a 3 Blade 21 pitch on it, came with the boat. The three blade was OK at top speed with the WOT at 4800 RPM. The hole shot well.. Sucked! I was looking for something to help the boat plane out at lower speeds, and tow a tube at around 20 MPH. I didn't care about the top speed. I wanted the boat to run better at lower speeds, where I spend 90% of my time.
All I can say is WOW. What a difference. I mean like night and day difference. I read all the forums and any other info I could find about the 3 to 4 blade conversion. I went with the 19 pitch. With the 19 I lost top end and I do have to watch the WOT. It will go over the max of 4800 RPM, but if you want a 4 cylinder to work well from 0-40 MPH. I would go with the 19 if you want top speed I would go a little higher. Normally if you want to go from 3 blade to 4 you have to drop a degree of pitch. I did 2 degrees less and I am very happy, here is why.
                  1. Doesn't have as much bow drift at no wake speeds. (4 blade benefit)
                  2. Gets on plane like you have a V8.
                  3. Stays on plane till 15 MPH where before would fall off plane at 23 MPH.
                  4. Stern rides higher out of the water so if your in rough water you don't get the bow slap.
                  5. Tows the the tube with ease. unlike the 21 pitch 3 blade. I can tell the engine is not working as hard. Bow stays down even while towing!
                  6. Corners on a dime with out venting the prop. Very bad for the engine!
                  7. Rides like a 22 foot boat! especially in rough waters.

I was looking at trim tabs or fin to help push the bow down. I am glad I went with the prop, now I don't need all of the other stuff. I did have to trim the anadode to get the prop to fit FYI, or you could get the off set trim tab anadode if you want, I'm cheap.
So if you don't mind a few off the top end, but a total transformation everywhere else get it! you will be happy. Another option is the composite type. I hear they will exchange the blades so you can find what is good for you. I didn't know that until after the order was complete. I still would do the same thing again though.
                  Happy Boating!!

performa on a par with expensive stainless steel props at a much lower price. ordered a second one for a spare in case of a mishaps. extremely well built and supurb quality. would recommend this prop to anyone looking for quality and performance at a good price.

Can I replace a 3 blade 14.5x19 with a 4 blade 14.3x19? Would this provide more power to plane and for skiers, or would this change the optimum rpm to top speed? Right now a 3 blade at 4800rpm gives me 35mph top speed.

                          A:

Moving to a 4 blade will give you more pulling power and a faster hole shot. More than likely you will loose top end speed. I would recommend dropping down a pitch size to factor in the additional blade.

                      • Q:

I am wondering whether this prop is a good option for my boat. I have 20 foot Sea Ray with 5.0 liter mercruiser. Outdrive is Alph 1. I have been told that this will help keep the bow down at lower speeds, i.e. when I am towing young children. I am also curious about hole shot and top end. Is this the right prop and pitch?
