I have no electricity to my dock, so I am always on the lookout for solar products. These lights are great. They were easy to install and are very secure. They are tough and durable. I never worry about stepping on them or hitting them. I am buying more of them.

We purchased 14 of these lights last spring. Since then, 9 have failed and 2 more have become too dim to be practical. They were installed in full sunlight and have not been stepped on or abused. In the first 2 months, a couple failed. Four months later, 5 more failed, followed soon by the rest. My strongest advice is to not buy this product, or any solar product, from Dock Edge. Thank goodness for Overton's return policy.

Comments about Dockmate Solar Dock Lite:

Easy installation,I used clear silicone on our new vinyl dock, fourteen of them . By second day in the sun(winter) they stay on night ! Looks like a runway just enough light to move around safely by marking all edges and easy to see the dock for night landings, very pleasant to look down and see dock and boats. Very solid construction.

            • Q:

Need to install units on a boat lift. They may go under water for a while. Are they submergable?
Asked on 8/12/2014 by Beezer from Windsor, Ontario Canada

              • Staff Reviewer

                A:

They are made to withstand water, however, they're not technically submersible. There's no way to determine how long they would last used in this manner, since they were designed to mount to a dry, flat surface that get's plenty of sunlight for charging during the day.

            • Q:

It says in your video that the lights should be placed at least 6 ft apart so they do not cancel each other out. My dock is 4ft wide and 170ft long and I would like to mount them along the length of the dock but 4 ft apart (the width of the dock) but not facing each other . Do you think they will work? Thanks Frank

              • Staff Reviewer

                A:

Yes that will work. They will only cancel each other out if the lights are aimed at each other. We should have clarified that in our video.

This light does not come with replaceable batteries. If you are wanting a light with rechargeable/replaceable batteries, you may want to look at item 714568 or 73706.

If you don't want this product on the dock during the off-season, you would have to remove it by unscrewing it from the dock. The height is approximately 1"

My solar lights are permanently screwed onto my dock and walkway. I never remove them for the off-season. They are left uncovered even during winter. The lights are about 1 inch tall and very durable. I occasionally step on them and hit them with carts, but nothing has caused them to fail.
