CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Well I can definately tell you that your starter isn't working very long because it is not marine certified. All marine engine parts have a number SAE1171 stamped on them. That number means that the engine part is marine certified and will not explode. Automobile parts are not certified for marine use because they rarely are exposed to salt water. You need a marine starter, and we can find one for your engine, but we need more information from you. The serial number of your engine would be great which for chris craft inboard boats is located on the firing piston on a metal tag. We also need to know the brand of your engine (crusader, pleasurecraft marine, indmar, etc), ford or chevy block, the year of the engine, and the CID/HP/Liter rating for the engine. Please gather as much information as you can and call 888-683-7866 for assistance.Answered on 9/2/2009 by JUSTIN from OVERTONS TECHNICIAN

A:
For us to properly assist you and make sure that we get you the correct starter for your engine we are going to need a little more information from you. On your old existing starter there should be a sequence of numbers; those numbers should be your serial number for that starter and it may also have a part number. Please gather that information and contact us here at Overton's at 1-888-OVERTON and any of our Technical Product Specialist will be glad to assist you in selecting the correct starter for your engine.Answered on 6/2/2009 by Brooks, Marine Buyer from Overtons
