Comments about SE Sport 200 Hydrofoil, fits 8 hp - 40 hp engines:
I have a Polar Kraft V 144 SC (14' 4" length, 72" beam, 40HP max) which has a poor planing hull design. When I bought this boat a few years back, it had a Mercury 40 HP 2-stroke, 2-cylinder with a 15" Pitch. On my maiden voyage with this boat, I had a lot of trouble getting this boat to plane. With 2 adults and gear, the boat would just plow water. After experimenting with different props, I ended up using a 13 " Pitch prop so I could use the boat, with about a 3 mph top end loss. With this setup, the boat would only plane at speeds above 21 mph (all speed readings by GPS).
Since my 40 HP Mercury's lower unit appears smaller (?) than the newer 4-strokers and other 2 strokers, I decided to try the smaller 200 SE Sport Hydrofoil with a 14 " Pitch Propeller. I could not believe the difference when I hit the throttle. The boat jumped right up to a plane and I didn't have to pay as much attention to the motor's trim position. What I also like is I am able to throttle down the motor and maintain the boat on a plane as low as 12 mph (depending on wind/waves). I do not think the drag from my hydrofoil effected my top end speed. This is hard to judge this since I changed the propeller pitch from 13" to 14" at the same time I installed the Hydrofoil. My boat top speed went from 29.5 mph to 31 mph which you would expect with an 1" increase in pitch.
With the template provided with the SE Sport Hydrofoil made installation easy. But I have to admit that I got my neighbor, who has steady hand and great judgment, do drill the holes. I would recommend asking someone to help you drill since two set of eyes can verify proper placement.

A lot of people are asking for a hydrofoil that they do not have to drill into the cavitation plate. This is an optional accessory that you can use with the se sport 200 or 300 but you can drill the holes also without the clip on either model.Answered on 9/21/2009 by JUSTIN from OVERTONS TECHNICIANCUSTOMER CARE

The biggest difference between these two is the size more than anything. The SE Sport 200 is for the smaller O/B to 200HP O/B while the SE Sport 300 is for up to 300HP O/B.
