Is there someway to hook this pump up to come on automatically when needed? or is there a pump that is sold that does work auto.

You can buy the Rule 35A Float switch and wire it in series on the 12VDC postive side to make this bilge pump work automatically. There are diffierent Rule Bigle pump models that have built in float switches also sold at overton's.(RM1100 and RM1500).
