I needed a replacement compass that Yamaha boats no longer sold and this compass was about the same design, size and color so good replacement compass. I'm not sure if I would want to go offshore with this compass but for inland rivers it's perfect.

I purchased this product in conjunction with my GPS system. It allows for much easier movement from one position to another position while fishing, and takes the guesswork out of navigation. You can move across the water in excess of forty miles per hour and maintain a direct course during daylight. And, at night, while going much slower (ten miles per hour or less) you can still maintain a accurate course from one location to the next. The real "life saver" is when the fog rolls in. Between my GPS and my Ritchie Trek Compass there is NO problems navigating back to my docking location!

This is the second unit. Both leaked out DRY after two-three years.???????

A quality alternative to bulky compasses. Fits nicely on the top of my center console without taking up much space. Was surprised it did not come with any mounting screws (required a trip to my local boat dealer before I could mount it). Some crimp on wire connectors would have also enhanced the installation experience.
