paws_aboard Providing ultimate buoyancy and high visibility, this life jacket is designed with a breathable mesh underbelly for proper draining and drying. Your dog will stay comfortable with less heat and chafing. Also features bright neon colors and reflective strips for maximum visibility, easy to grasp grab handle, quick-release buckles, and a more comfortable Velcro fastening system around the belly and neck. Available in pink and blue. Sizes: 2XS(up to 6 lbs./11"-16" body girth), XS(7-12 lbs./15"-19" body girth), S(13-20 lbs./17"-22" body girth), M(20-50 lbs./21"-30" body girth), L(50-90 lbs./30"-37" body girth).

Returning product - doesn't fit and poor

We just received our doggy lifevest and it doesn't fit. We measured our dog and purchased an XS and it is not even close to fitting. The dog measured on the small end of the XS chart. The velco barely connects and the straps are too short to buckle. The dog would need to have a 3 inch neck for the vest to fit properly. Since the velcro doesn't fully connect the hooks will cause belly irritation. We will return the product for a refund.

      This is a great life jacket for our Westie. She wore her previous life vest so much that it seemed to be thinning her fur across her back.
      This life jacket is full coverage and prevents her from getting sunburn. I think it is also cooler than the previous vest. She also fell in the water and came right up.

        This was very useful! I know my dog can swim, but her having the life jacket on helps me relax when we're floating the river in kayaks! She actually fell out of my kayak on the last float and it was easy to pull her back in using the handle on the top of this life jacket. The jacket does not restrict any normal activity and seems to be comfortable for her.

        Ordered a small and it was too large and loose. Called and ordered xsmall and it was a couple inches too small. Returning xs and going to a tailor to have the small made smaller. My dog weighs 14 lbs.

                I am looking at this and the Overtons Dog Life Jacket. Is the main difference just manufactures? I was also wondering about the size of the mesh on the underbelly, with the possibility of getting a nail caught when scratching. How large are the holes? Also is it better to have the underpart made of floatation material to add to the buoyancy? I have a small 7lb Chihuahua mix.

                  I think that flotation on the dog's underside would cause the dog to roll in the water. With flotation only on the top, it supports the dog right side up and keep it's head out of the water.

                  I don't believe the dog's nails will get caught in the mesh.
                  the floatation under the dog's chin keeps the head above the water. If there was a float under the dog, it could make the dog work harder to keep in the proper position - in my opinion.

                  This will come down to your dog's body girth. When measured around his chest, if the length is 15"-19", go with the XS. If it measures 17"-22", go with a Small.
