Q:My wife lands our boat on the trailer and she likes guiding lights when loading at night. I would like to change over to L.E.D. lights. My trailer is only 5 years old. Can I connect the new L.E.D. lights to the existing wiring loom? Do I have to change out the wiring as well?Asked on 6/1/2009 by Capt. Greybreard the Merciful from West Des Moines, IA.
A:There is no need to change out the wiring harness to upgrade to LED lights, but you may have to change the "plugs" depending on the manufacturer of your trailer. A large percentage of marine trailer manufacturers use the same plug system, but you can cut the current plugs off if necessary.Answered on 6/4/2009 by Ryan from Overtons
