Used this to plug the hole where the aerator pump went thru the transom of my fiberglass boat. Pump was broken and letting water in. Used this as a quick/cheap fix. Works great.

I made the mistake of assuming that all drain plugs are standardized....they are not

I have a 1983 Larson speed boat and while the drain hole itself fit the new product the 3 screw holes did not line up.

I am not disappointed in the product itself as it seems to me like a wonderful design but I am disappointed that I would have had to fill the old holes and drill new which is too much of a hassle

Comments about Unified One-Way Safety Plug:

We keep our boat on a covered lift and I clean the bilge and engine compartment every other week so I like to pull the plug when I'm doing that. The design of this plug lets me use a srew driver to loosen and tighten it. I can hold a screw driver much better than an open end wrench while I'm leaning over the dock under the boat. I didn't install the one way valve in the transom so I can comment on that, but in theory it sounds like a good idea.

works very well but takes a little longer for water to drain from bilge nothing like trying to sink your boat weve all left the plug out at least once

                              Hello,

Measuring the hole is very simple but be sure to measure the screw holes as well for I found out the hard way the screw holes are not necessarily "standard"

Overton customer service is so wonderful that if you measure the space between your screw holes and the location (using the face of a clock as reference) they will be able to tell you if it will fit or not

I purchased one of these from Overtons years ago to let the water out of the bottom of my boat, but I never installed it because I cannot figure how the water would get out,so I installed a bilge pump instead ,please explain how it works!
                            Thanks

Is this hardware like a check valve one direction.
Is this meant to be installed outside the boat or inside?
