I've installed another switch like this and it worked well. Hard plastic housing, but the poly type your dog could chew up easily. Not the hard ABS plastic. But it did work, and it's in my buddies boat to this day.Push to choke, wiring remains stock for his Johnson 40hp. Plug n Play. The keys supplied are much more flimsy. If you really crank on it they will snap off. After a couple years, you will notice the key chewing away at the radius of the key insert. And this plastic will fade to gray after a while. Then it gets dry and will crack in half, like my old one did. But it did last for many years. (88 Tracker) I ordered one for my boat [...]NOTE: some people have a hard time wiring this switch, but it's because this is an OMC. Check the numbers before you order it.Oh, and this switch does come with 2 keys as advertised. And the treads, being the cheap poly soft plastic, will strip if you screw it in to hard. And gorilla glue will not do it - trust me.And another thing, this switch is a short one, it works on my Tracker threw a 1/16" thick throttle housingbut if yours is thicker you might run out of threads to screw it down.I'd say 1/4 inch is MAX, and will leave you about 2 threads to work with. The Male connections are sturdy enough, and the Female screw inlet is brass - that will strip easily too.A new screw is supplied. The spring in the housing for the "push2choke" is tight. Lots of recoil. It will last a good while. The cheap metal ring around the faceplate actually doesn't rust. But dents easily. If you stab it with the key it leaves a ding. Cheers.

You will need to double your owners manual for your specific application because these can differ. The ones that we sell are coded as follows: Red is connected to the battery, Black is the magneto ground, Yellow with the red stripe is for the solenoid, Purple wire is the ignition, Purple with white stripe is to the accessory, Black with the yellow stripe is the magneto (not to be confused with the magneto ground), Yellow with the black stripe is the choke.
