My daughter is about 60 lbs. and after about 5 tries, could easily get up on the ski. (That was her first time trying to slalom.) So, it was great for learning to get up on a slalom.
However, once up, it has some challenges. It is somewhat unstable (it wants to roll to either side), when riding between the wakes. It is much more stable, when on an edge on the outside of the wakes leaning slightly away from the boat.
Also, unless the skier is going side to side, it tends to put a lot of spray in the skiers face. This may be due to her light weight, but shifting her weight toward the front or back of the ski does not help, neither does changing the speed.
There may not be anything better on the market, but I would shop around a little more before deciding to buy this ski again.

Comments about O'Brien OBrien Jr. Vortex Combo Waterskis:

The front connector is nice for new skiers to keep skis from crossing. The boots have a nice range of adjustment. The wider fronts of the skis aided in my Grand kids getting up while learning to ski. Nice product.

These are great skis to teach juniors on. The bar is adjustable for taller kids and can be made wider. Plus the slalom is good for beginner slalom open water skiers. Highly recommended for the little people in your life.

Comments about O'Brien OBrien Jr. Vortex Combo Waterskis:

Just used the skis yesterday with 3 grandkids - oldest fell 3 times, middle got up for 30-40 secs on his first try (yea), and the youngest had trouble getting his foot in after falling - so we are all still learning. Best thing was one kid was pushing the skis in front of him to the boat and they had come undone-so we figured that the screw that attached them together had been lost and our skiing time was over, except we were pleasantly surprised to find that the bolt was still trapped in the attaching bracket (now we know why they made it this way) and so we were able to continue to ski the rest of the day. Yea!!

Yes. The stabilizer bar can be easily removed and reattached as needed with just one screw in each ski.
