Q:
My question is "what ,why,or when" do I need to use the "vent" on the plastic replacement cap. I ran 4 gallons of 50--1 premix out of a 6 gallon plastic tank and the tank sucked all the air out and tank was collapsed. Do I use the vent during operation or boat sitting around in the heat? when and why?...thank you...Doug.Asked on 3/28/2010 by Dougie from Bullhead city,AZ.1 answer
A:
Definitely vent during operation or you will get a vacuum as the gas is evacuated from the tank by the fuel pump. Letting it vent while the boat is sitting around in the heat is your call: fumes will be released (good and bad) and as it cools air and moisture will be sucked in (not good).Answered on 7/6/2010 by bob from rhodyland
