marcum It's only about the size of a flashlight, but this pocket-sized digital sonar is a powerful instrument, with an oversized LCD display and a transducer beam capable of displaying depths to 299 feet. The LX-i Handheld is equipped with a built-in fish alarm, which will alert the angler of fish within the sonar's 12-degree cone angle. Reads depth in increments to a tenth of a foot. No need to drill dozens of holes looking for structure, just press the LX-i against the ice and take a reading. 2,500 watt output power for shooting through ice or obtaining depth readings from canoes or bellyboats. Additional features include an automatic shut-off to help save battery life, CR-P2 6V lithium battery, low battery indicator, and soft carry case. 20 hours of continuous runtime. Made in USA.

    Comments about MarCum LX-i Handheld Sonar:

    It did fine shooting through over two feet of ice - was able to find a hole and get on fish pretty much immediately the first time I took it out. It did have some problems with ice with a lot of air in it, but it wasn't hard to find adjacent spots with cleaner ice. Our ice is over 4' thick by the end of the winter and I'm curious to see how it will do. Ridiculously easy to use.

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
