  • Q:

I just purchased a new 2012 glastron 180 gt and the water temp flashes -4F continuously. Just wondering if the transducer is faulty or just not installed properly. I am thinking that there is no way a thru hull transducer could display water temp and from recall I don't think there is one on the transom. Any comments or advice is welcome. I would think that Glastron would have some notification to the buyer not to expect the temp portion to work if this is the case. The back light does not seem to work as well. Should have been picked up on the pdi. Frustrated New Boat Owner.

      A:

Neither. This comes with a transom mounted transducer which can be installed under the waterline, on the outside back wall of the boat, or you can take the bracket off of the transducer and use epoxy to install the transducer inside the bilge area, making sure that there are no air bubbles under the transducer, and it will shoot through the hull.
