All the store clerks thought lowrance the best and I had a friend that loved his unit. You will need a manifying glass to read the fine print in the instruction manual and even then the instructions ranged from woefully inadequate to useless. Included in the packaage was an ad for 4 training DVDs. At about $30 a pop it seemed a rip off and I didn't bite. This info should have been included with the unit; very disappointing.

Bought unit in early December 2011. Meticulously gathered and sent in all requested items for the $100 rebate. Now into February with no acknowlegement of receipt and no rebate.

Comments about Lowrance Elite-5 Fishfinder/Chartplotter Combo:

took a few hours to become accustomed to all the functions, but this is my first chartplotter so I figured it would take some getting used to. Very pleased with overall performance and display. Wish I had bought it sooner.

Comments about Lowrance Elite-5 Fishfinder/Chartplotter Combo:

Product used to aid in navigation, monitor water column and bottom,to establish repeatable sampling locations and waypoints, locate schools of baitfish and sportfish. Biggest weakness is the owner's manual which omits instructions on naming waypoints and is weak in describing the GO TO function. Seves as a backup to a Furuno GPS manufactured in the early 1990's
