Comments about KL Industries Sun Dolphin Pro 120 Fishing Boat:
I bought one of these in 1996 and still have it. The design has only changed slightly since then. The four under deck storage compartments plus areated livewell are great. It will plane with a 15hp (I have), and maybe with 9.9 with a power prop.
The 5ft beam makes it easy to move around and its plenty stable for most lakes - you can stand with confidence on the casting platforms (even after a few beers). However, it was a little rough when I took it on the Potomac.
I have stored it under a cover and have had to replace the rear decking due to rot a couple of years ago and the front is getting a little weak now. I also had to replace the live well pump once, but I think one will have things like this with any boat and overall it has been a good boat.
If I had it to do over again, I'm not certain, but I might go with a small aluminum bass boat because I think that would be a little more rigid and plane better, and you pretty much need a trailer anyway. However, I'm not sure you can find a short one this wide and also not sure if it would be as stable.

Q:
Is it wired for a foot control trolling motor to use on the front of the boat or is it wired for a rear mount trolling motor?Asked on 5/5/2012 by Anonymous1 answer
A:
Wired for front mount motor, but a foot controlled motor requires an additional part for mounting. Transom mount motors work fine there, as long as you can reverse the control head to accompdate it being in the front of the boat. I don't know this for sure,, as I have not installed the bow mount block, but it might interfere with the built in storage on the front deck. I opted not to risk it and mounted a transom mount motor. There are a few with foot controls, but they seem rare. Great boat so far!Answered on 10/21/2012 by Fishin' Dave from Great bend, ks

The specs say it is rated for a 15 hp. motor .... However my reading indicates that 7-8 max is recommended. I would personally limit it to 5 hp and if I purchase one I will put a 2 hp. on it.Answered on 10/3/2010 by Rowdy from MS
