Comments about Sun Dolphin Sportsman Fishing Boat:

Can carry all my crabtraps out past low tide watermark,so traps stay underwater& I dont have to sink waist deep in (BP)mud to put out& take back in anymore. Perfect lil work barge for pump when jeting poles for dock or peer,& you can just fish out of it too!!

first week...

By lorrie

Comments about Sun Dolphin Sportsman Fishing Boat:

what a great find. just sold a bayliner due to size and crowded lakes, too much time involved just to get in the water....we were shopping around for something one person can manage and to be able to put in water anywhere. we were looking for something larger but what sold us what that it fits right in the bed of our Silverado. tail gate down and a couple of bungee cords....first week we took to 3 different lakes using a trolling motor. what a great time. big enough for the both of us and I cannot tell you how many people hollered at us from there docks wanting to know what the heck it was, how much and where did we get it. never once got swamped by speed boats.....or jet skis we felt very comfortable for what we wanted it for...to fish or just troll around the islands....and while everyone else was in line waiting to drop there boats we just carried it past them and off we went. the flat bottom made it very easy to step in and out of. best purchase ever. my husband has gone fishing by him self and he has no problem with removing from truck in or out.

Comments about Sun Dolphin Sportsman Fishing Boat:

I bought this boat about a year a ago. Great boat, especially for the money! Very stable for how small it is, my wife and I tested it on a hot summer day, sorta of tried to tip it, and couldn't. Handles waves better then expected. The wind however really blows you around, due to it's lightness (buy an anchor for sure). I would suggest at least a 40lb thrust trolling motor for it, especially for the windy days you want that extra thrust. It fits in the back of my 6 and a half foot truck bed as long as the tailgate is down. It sometimes feels a little small when you have 2 guys and tons of fishing gear out there, but it really isn't that bad. Great for those small lakes the big boats can't get on. Also perfect for one guy! Also great if you have limited storage like I do, because I rent. Overall I'd buy it again!

This boat comes pre-wired for trolling motor. Can't tell from pics where the battery is installed. So where does the battery go and is it easy to take in and out?

            A:

Thanks for your question. The battery will be installed in the back of the boat, just behind the rear seat. The wires for the trolling motor run from the battery in the back to the front of the boat. The wire is under the deck of the boat so it is out of the way. You can also mount the trolling motor at the rear of the boat if you choose. Here is an image that better shows the battery location and the wiring for the trolling motor.

Has a midseam with rubrail and does not leak. It weighs 100lbs. I take it in and out of my 2008 Ranger pickup. Fits right in the back. Me and my son use this boat a lot. It's worth the money. With a 4hp motor, you can go about 8mph but after that the nose of boat comes up too high. Its short and not ment for speed. Read my post in review.
