You could use this knife for splitting camp wood, building a shelter, and making new trails. I found it cuts 1" caliber brush profficiently. I even use this knife for work on a tree nursery.

My 2 boys wear their Ka-Bars on every hunt or outdoor trip and find all kinds of uses for them. Frequently, when other hunters or guides see the knife on their side, the comment is "great knife, I had one just like that when I was your age..." The best holiday gift we as parents have given just to see the gleam in their eyes when they put the Ka-Bar on their side.

I am a member of the boy scouts of America and i take this knife on many of my camp outs. It stays sharp and is VERY durable. I recommend this knife 100% if you are looking for a versatile and sturdy knife. It can be used for anything.
