This has become the running gauge I rely on most. There are many shallow areas where I run and this gauge gives me confidence to safely go where I haven't gone before. Easy to read, even on a bright, sunny day. I installed this gauge on my dash amid my other gauges and it's simple to glance at it while running and watch my depth. The transponder and wiring were easy to install and the instructions were very clear and easy to understand. I would highly recommend this gauge.

This product will be used for navigation of the area lakes as we often lake hop. Delivery was prompt and packaged well. We look forward to the installation in the spring.

Comments about Humminbird HDR 650 Depth Gauge:

the product works as advertised. The installation was straightforward. The instructions were fairly detailed and accurate. it still requires a commitment and a willingness to drill into your boat, on the outside. we tested it this past weekend and the depths was exactly correct, and it continued to work at full speed

Comments about Humminbird HDR 650 Depth Gauge:

The box does not mention, but the transom mount transducer included with this can also be mounted as a shoot thru hull type. The installation manual has detailed instructions for doing this. Kudos to Overtons for providing the installation manual on their site so you can verify something like this before buying. This was very easy to install and worked great. The only items needed were a hole saw for the dash, 2 part epoxy for the shoot thru hull installation, an inline fuse holder, some zip ties and some wire crimps. For my small Stingray I/O boat, epoxying the transducer about 12 inches from the rear, dead center worked.

Comments about Humminbird HDR 650 Depth Gauge:

I use the depth sounder as the main means of checking the water depth--dash mounted with see through hull mounting. Simple to use, just set the shallow depth alarm the max depth if desired.
Can be used to set the depth interval for fishing.
I use mine with an LCR 2000 Hummingbird fish finder. Had it for 20 years or more. The only thing was the price--I could have got it from Hummingbird for 99.99
One thing--this 650 unit was a replacement for the 600 unit which was about 10 years old

                A:

There is wiring that needs to be run and this has no application that it can not work on. If you are wondering if this will work on your boat, just know that this product will work on your boat if you install it correctly.
