Comments about Humminbird 597ci HD DI GPS/Fishfinder Combo:

I like the product. I feel for small boat fishing on inland lake. This unit is adequate for me. Some of its features I have to learn how to use its results, such as GPS features and marking areas. Not being experienced I wish there was a viedo showing all the features this unit has to offer. Show and tell is a lot easier for me to understand.

Comments about Humminbird 597ci HD DI GPS/Fishfinder Combo:

After replacing my old fishfinder with this one I headed out to my favorite lake, WOW what a difference. The amount of structure that it shows is amazing and the down imaging is awesome. I was able to chart depth and fish at speeds up to 30 miles per hour. The menus are easy to use and understand. The GPS is also a great feature.

Comments about Humminbird 597ci HD DI GPS/Fishfinder Combo:

This unit is great! easy to use and the graphics are xcelent. It takes time to get used to any sonar/gps but this one was a quick study. I was really impressed with the support staff @ Humminbird [...].I think that a hard copy of the manual would be nice for quick reference in the field in the beginning but the cd that is provided with the unit is adequate and easy to use. The instalation went very well instructions were clear and easy to follow as is typical of Humminbird.Very happy with it.

I assume that the GPS Great Lakes maps are not included. I boat on Lake Huron most of the time. If I have to buy the maps for the Great Lakes, how much does it cost? Why don't you just explain the Great Lakes maps on all GPS products, then we don't need to ask the question?

                    Thank you for your question.
This unit contains a built in Uni-Map of the entire nation. This map will show the Great Lakes---but will not show "in-depth" detail of any location without a specific chart card for the area you intend to navigate. If you wish to see non lighted markers, contour lines, spot depth readings, etc----you will need to purchase the appropriate chart card fro our area. Cost depends on which level of cartography you are looking to purchase. If you need more information....please feel free to contact our Technical Service department for more info.

I was reading some of the reviews and they mentioned speed display options. Are there certain screens that do not allow the speed to be displayed? Are there controls to set that allow you to adjust what options are displayed ie. speed, temp, depth?
