I purchased these pants for a backpacking trip. In prior years, I have worn the leading name brand's lightweight convertible pants, which I liked well enough but which never quite fit me right - tight in the waist to get a good fit in the legs and butt. I grabbed these because they were on sale, felt incredibly comfortable in the dressing room, and looked good (and let's face it, we want to look good in our trip photos). These pants outperformed my leading name brand pants in every category. I wore them for three straight days (backpacking = no extra clothing). In that time, I rock climbed and hiked through terrain rated as "very difficult". These pants remained comfortable without stretching out, retained NO odor despite sweating, being dirty, and even being on my period. I know that's TMI, but it is also HIGH praise. My other pants required daily washing under the same circumstance. I was even able to dunk the pants in Lake Huron to wash them on Day 3 and have them dry by the next morning. I did NOT have trouble with mosquitos biting through the materials, as in my other pants. The pant legs zip of easily during the warmer hours of the day and zip back on at sunset just as easily. As I hoped, my trip photos look significantly better with these pants. I have since worn these pants to work, where attire is work casual, and received multiple compliments on them. As a result, I am ordering 3 more pairs in the other colors as I intend to use these pants for both work and play. These should really be called travel pants since they are both durable, good looking, and quick drying. Great for those long adventures when space is limited. I really cannot recommend these pants enough. They run bigger than the leading name brand in the waist (I am a size 14/15 and the 14 fit with a touch of extra room in the waist, I almost fit in the 12) but are smaller in the butt and legs - perfect for folks like me who carry belly weight but have proportionately smaller butts/legs. If you carry weight more in your thighs/butt, you may need to order a size up. If you carry weight as I do, your normal size or perhaps a size smaller should fit beautifully.

I bought these for canoe camping trips. I am about an 18/20 size, hourglass shape (read: large bottomed!).

Pros: They are lightweight, dry quickly. I have worn these on rainy days and during portaging and they do dry quickly.

Cons: This is a huge one - the zippers that convert the pants to shorts do not work very well with this cut. I should have tried more squatting/kneeling in the store, but once I was seated in our canoe it was apparent that this position would tighten that zippers circling around my thighs by a lot - they're like really tight cuffs. It makes these uncomfortable to do anything but upright things. Also, I would have liked a little more generous amount of fabric for the backside. If I'm sitting and moving around in the canoe, these don't provide a whole ton of coverage and my partner in the back of the canoe gets to stare at my underwear all the time.

These are great! I am tall and have a hard time finding any pants that are long enough, and these work great. They are light weight, durable and breathable all at once. They seem to be holding up well in the washer/dryer as well. Love these.
