Product Description
gander_mountain The Vacation Lodge Family Tent creates a literal home away from home, with a comfortable walk-in, 2-room, high-ceiling design. The tent is well ventilated with an over-6-foot center height, back-to-back, double Dutch "D" doors, 6 closeable windows, and a fully vented roof. In wet weather the Vacation Lodges' rainfly and welded polyethylene floor provides the protection you need to stay dry. Amazingly easy to set up for such a large and stable tent, the Kodiak features central hubs that connect the roof to steel uprights and a simple-to-use fast-feet system.

What's more, when you are just going out for the day to picnic, you can bring just the poles and rainfly and create a free-standing sun shelter. Essentially you can buy a tent and a sun shade at the same time with the Vacation Lodge. In tent form, the Vacation Lodge is equipped with two hanging pockets, making it easy to keep larger groups organized. Additional details include a E-port to make it easy to run electrical cords out of the tent, steel stakes for secure placement, and a convenient travel and storage duffel.

• Back to back "D" style doors with inside flap zippered windows
• Removable seam-sealed fly
• Mesh roof vents
• Zippered rear and side windows with inside flaps
• Corded steel frame with molded corner hubs and fast feet for easy set up

Just the 2 of us but we love big, roomy tents. We already own a 10x14 from another manufacturer but the screen room is what drew us to this one. Bought it online at a huge discount and also found a promo code online which more than offset the sales tax so got it for a steal in March 2015. Haven't been camping yet but wanted to share some info after having set it up in the backyard yesterday. The tent area itself is 12x12 and the screen room 12x7 at its longest point. The floor of the screen room tapers so is not a full 12x7 and it does NOT have a floor in the screened area. We bought a 15'x20' tarp so as to have protection for the tent and a 'bottom' in the screen porch. The tent is heavy but a nice feature is that the carry bag it comes in has rollers similar to luggage. There are instructions sewn into the bag with information on BOTH sides so be sure to look for that. Others have complained about the difficulty they had in setting up the tent because nothing was marked. Apparently, Gander Mountain has addressed that. Nearly all poles were marked with letters and color-coded. The 4 poles for the screened portion had no markings at all but we knew where they went trough the process of elimination. The instruction did have some mistakes. It appears that the directions have not been changed to match the newly marked poles and fittings so it was much easier just to match the pole letters to the letters on the fittings; very simple! There is one thing that is a real irritation to me, hence the 4-star rating rather than 5. The only access into the tent itself is through the screen area. There are 2 huge doors going into the tent but only 1 zipper (not a full door) going from the outside into the screened area. Typically the doors in tents have a zipper across the bottom to fully open the door but the screen zipper is simply a vertical zipper. So unless you leave the bottom of the screen wall unstaked by the 'door', you have to squeeze through the zipper and risk tearing it. There is a nice piece of material at the bottom of the screen walls, about 5" wide, that can be duct taped to the tarp to keep out the critters. Overall I think we'll love this tent. The ventilation is great and it has many other nice features as described by the manufacturer. I would definitely recommend it to others.

It looks like a lovely and spacious tent. In a test run to put it together after purchasing, rods were miss marked, some unmarked, and it was difficult to put together. Not sure if it was missing parts, but it seemed like it. The directions were poorly written.

We gave up before getting it up, because at 30 minutes of trying to figure it out ... We realized this tent would not work if we arrived at campground after dark. It is too much work if you are not keeping it up for awhile, and we tend to camp a day or two and then move to another site, this is WAY too much work. (And we had experienced campers helping us with the test run.)

It does have nice features and the storage bag is really nice in that it has a roller on one end and can expand. But the complexity was too much and the directions were terrible. Maybe if it had been marked correctly, it would have been different.

Comments about Gander Mountain Vacation Lodge 10-Person Family Tent:

I am living in this tent currently. I have set it up three times now. The first time I had to use the instructions and they were very clear, the rest of the time, I only needed a picture and it went up like a charm. I braved a mega thunderstorm in this tent and it keep me dry, safe, and warm. I did have a little water at the entrance, but the campground flooded almost up to the tent area. So I say this guy did the job great!

      Recommendation for next model:
I wish the pole ends were color coded since there are so many, just like the poles on the fly.

Comments about Gander Mountain Vacation Lodge 10-Person Family Tent:

We decided to start camping with our two daughters. I wanted a large roomy tent that could fit a queen mattress if not two comfortably. I think two queens would be tight but we got a queen and two cots which I think will work nicely. It is definitely a great tent. Took my husband and I about 30 minutes to setup for first time as a trial run. Haven't officially camped in it yet but think the next setup will probably be cut in 1/2 the time. Love the roominess in it and the screen room. I do agree with other reviews and wish the screen room had zippers on bottom also as I'm afraid we may tear the tent by going in and out.

Comments about Gander Mountain Vacation Lodge 10-Person Family Tent:

Outside of the wait time, because this tent is so popular, the tent is exactly what is needed for our grandkids and their parent to enjoy the camping experience. The tent is well constructed with a foyer that makes meals and sleeping very easy by keeping these two functions separate while keeping them basically under one roof. It makes morning startup very easy. We purchased this tent for our grandkids and their parents, so they can enjoy the camping experience. This camping equipment will let them build enjoyable memories of their time growing up and enjoying the out of doors. Well constructed and roomy.

Comments about Gander Mountain Vacation Lodge 10-Person Family Tent:

We are a family of six and this tent offers plenty of room for us all. It is easy to set up and take down in a matter of minutes. We have used it twice so far and have no complaints about this tent. The tent is heavy so you are not backpacking with this for sure but this tent is ideal for camping at state parks where you pitch the tent a few yards from the car.
