I bought this combo in January 2011 thinking that the rod was a little heavier and would be great for Walleye. Even though I never had the chance to take it Walleye fishing I still used it for Pan Fish. I almost didn't buy this because of how the reel is held to the pole with the zip ties and cheap plastic clamps. However I've had really good luck with "Guide Series" in the past and purchased it. The combo worked for the most part but last week on the ice I went to reel up the line and the lone and behold the reel itself locked up and fell apart no longer reeling. I was able to fix it to get the rest of the line in, but its unable to work anymore. I'm sure this is just a faulty part in the reel but won't be getting another one to find out. I just hope they will take it back to exchange or replace. Either way I will continue to shop at Gander MT.
